Perennial plant native to Southeast Africa. It is a low-growing plant, reaching a maximum height of about 30cm. Fleshy leaves approximately 5cm long with serrated edges and a clearly defined petiole of about 2cm. Hairless stems. Inflorescence in the form of a raceme with abundant small, light-colored flowers speckled with spots. Blooms in autumn and winter. Small seeds, around 1mm, dark brown or black. Common names: Money plant, Dollar plant, Swedish ivy.

Growing Conditions:

A hardy and easy-to-grow plant. It thrives in well-drained soils rich in organic matter and nutrients. It cannot tolerate waterlogging. It can be generously fertilized, and with abundant nitrogen, it grows spectacularly. It prefers partial shade; it can withstand direct sun or full shade, but its appearance will suffer significantly. Regular watering is advisable. It can endure long periods without water but at the cost of becoming much less attractive. Due to its vigorous growth, frequent pruning is necessary; otherwise, it tends to look aged and unkempt. It propagates easily from cuttings, while propagation from seeds is somewhat more complicated.

Pests:

Being such a fleshy plant, it is attractive to devourers like worms or grasshoppers. If growing conditions are not suitable, fungi may appear, but this is uncommon. If the roots become damaged, it is easy to re-root the stems, so losing the plant is rare.
